Worsley Village is a designated Conservation Area centred on the historic Bridgewater Canal and the mock-Tudor cottages built by the Bridgewater Trustees in the 19th century. Alongside these are substantial detached and semi-detached properties toward Boothstown, Walkden and the edges of the RHS Bridgewater estate. Renovating in Worsley means working within Conservation Area constraints on the older properties while having more flexibility on the newer housing stock further out.
Because so much of central Worsley sits within the Conservation Area, external changes — render, windows, rooflines, extensions visible from the street — need careful design work and, in many cases, a full planning application rather than Permitted Development.
